Obituary

Phillip Benjamin Baldwin Jr., born July 30, 1961, in Marshall, Texas, passed away leaving behind a legacy of intellect, service, and deep-rooted love for his family and community. A proud graduate of Marshall High School, Phillip's academic path led him to Centenary College, where he earned a degree in Geology, and later to Texas A&M University, where he studied Nuclear Engineering. His passion for science earned him a prestigious internship at NASA's Bay St. Louis facility, which he attended two summers in a row.

Phillip ultimately found his calling in the law, graduating from South Texas College of Law in 1986. He served as General Counsel for Winchester Production Company and Westchester Oil and Gas Company until 1998, when he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded his own boutique law firm in Marshall, specializing in business, energy, and probate law.

A dedicated community leader, Phillip served as chairman of the Harrison County Democratic Party and was deeply engaged in local civic life. Beyond his professional and public accomplishments, Phillip was a devoted father to three sons and a proud grandfather to one grandson, with a granddaughter on the way. He found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends, with his prime rib becoming a legendary favorite around the dinner table.

Known for his sharp mind, kind heart, and zest for life, Phillip was also a passionate water sports enthusiast who found joy on the water whenever possible. He leaves behind a rich legacy of service, curiosity, and love that will live on in all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Phillip and Mertie Baldwin; sons, Andrew Browning Baldwin and John Scott Baldwin and sister, Nancy Baldwin Rohtert.

He is survived by his son, Phillip Benjamin Baldwin, III and wife, Amber; grandchildren, John Browning Baldwin and soon to be granddaughter; sisters, Janie (Bradley) Chrisenberry and Rebecca (Bruce) Clark; nieces, Kathryn Clark Parker, Laura Clark Van Leeuwen and Sarah Stroemer and nephew, William Cameron Clark along with numerous other family and friends.
