Ray Larry
Dunn
Aug 11, 1957 — Jun 29, 2024
Marshall
Ray Larry Dunn, 66 years old, entered the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on June 29, 2024, surrounded by his family at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 423 LA-495 Cloutierville, LA, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Christian Ogbonna officiating.
Ray was born on August 11, 1957, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Thomas Dunn Sr. and Frances Beaudion Dunn. Ray served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his military career, Ray worked for IBM for seventeen years and the Department of Homeland Security for 3 years before having to medically retire.
Ray enjoyed reading, traveling and watching shoot'em ups (old westerns). Ray had a very dry sense of humor and witty sarcasm; he enjoyed teasing those he cared about. He enjoyed a very special relationship with his grandson, they were best friends and often times his Papa's voice carried more weight with Christian than even his own mothers. He also had a very special friendship with his cousins, Louis and Shelly Rachal, which brought joy to Ray in the last few years.
Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon A Dunn, his son Steven Ray Dunn (Morgan), his daughter Michelle Renee Dunn and his grandson, Christian Ray Boss. Ray is also survived by his sisters Shirley Chevalier (David) and Mary Neal, his brother Thomas Dunn "Buddy" Jr. (Audrey), his mother-in-law Carrie Coutee, his brother-in-law Harry Coutee Jr. (Wanda), his sister-in-law Michelle Adams as well as his aunts Doris Sers, Mary Artelia Dunn, Theresa Metoyer Coutee, Josephine Sarpy and Theresa Metoyer and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his late wife Lygia Lee Dunn (the mother of his children), his brother-in-law Tom Neal, his uncles Tony Sers, George "Dick" Dunn, Neal Dunn Jr., Paul "Noke/Nook" Dunn and Frank Beaudion, his aunts Carrie Dunn and Almatine "Kay" Dunn, his father-in-law Harry Coutee Sr. and his sister-in-law Mary Coutee.
A repast will be held in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
