Funeral services for Ray Pledger, 80, of Marshall will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. A time of visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Pledger passed away March 8, 2012. Mr. Pledger was born February 17, 1932 in Carthage, Texas to Milo and Ethel Pelham Pledger. He married Doris Smith Pledger September 27, 1968 in Marshall. He was blessed with a son, Milton Pledger and 3 daughters, Pamela Ogden, Debbie Moore and Debra Marshall, all of Marshall. He was also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Willyerd of Phoenix, AZ and Rosie Adkison of Carthage; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He worked as an Equipment Operator at Norit for 33 years. He was a member of BelAir Baptist Church, and enjoyed woodworking and yardwork. Mr. Pledger was preceded in death by his son, Milton Pledger, grandson, Jeremy Pettypool, his parents, a sister and a brother. Pallbearers will be Pete George, Jimmy Jones, Bill Mersino, Bill Mobley, Rickey Houston and Cecil Hancock.
