Funeral services for R.D. Johnson, Jr., 81 of Marshall will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. D'wayne McLane officiating. Interment will follow in Motley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Friday 25, 2014 at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson passed away April 19, 2014. R.D. Johnson was born December 12, 1932 in Waskom to R.D. Johnson Sr. and Katie Lee Taylor Johnson. On September 11, 1954, he married Artelia Marshall. He was employed by Witco Chemical until his retirement in 1998. Surviving R.D. are his loving wife of 59 years, Artelia Johnson; children, Rufus Johnson (Jan), Sandra Kay Johnson James, Dennis Ray Johnson, Eddie Charles Johnson (CaSandra), Cozzy Etta Johnson-Nelson, Cordell Johnson (Vanessa), Calvin Johnson (Martha), Angela Mitchell (Ronnie), Andrea Johnson York, Kirchanda Johnson (grandchildren that he raised as his own) and Troy Ryder; thirty four grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; two siblings, Doris Vittatoe and Richard Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Albert Johnson, Elvira Marshall, and Hazel Wydermire.
