A memorial service for Richard "Dicky" Ford, 72, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dicky was born on March 14, 1950, in Marshall, Texas to Samuel Henry Ford, Sr. and Pauline Pearl Gilstrap Ford and went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 1, 2023, in Marshall, Texas.

He was a retired fireman and handyman who could fix just about anything. He was an amazing carpenter whose work can be seen all over East Texas. He loved his granddaughters and played a very active role in their lives. He enjoyed watching everything they participated in. He spent his time riding his Harley, going to car shows, hunting, fishing, camping, cruising Caddo lake and tending to his cows. Most of all he loved being around people and never met a stranger. He loved his family as well as the community and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Pauline Ford; his wife, Vicky Ford; sisters and brother in laws, Betty and Guy Nightingale and JoAnn and Leo Burns; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Nancy Ford; brother in laws, EJ May and Wayne Chambers and nephews, Dale Ford and Scotty Nightingale.

He is survived by his loving son and daughter in law, Shane and Jennifer Ford; granddaughters, Kensley, Gracey and Shaley Ford, his greatest joys; his long-time companion and best friend, Gayle Bice; sisters Peggy Chambers and Paula May along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to River Crossing Cowboy Church or to Pine Forest Baptist Church of Hallsville.
