Richard Gene Toye Funeral services for Richard Gene Toye, 82, of Marshall will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Morris Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Toye passed away November 1, 2012 in Marshall. Richard Gene Toye was born March 23, 1930 in Perry, Iowa to Melvin Edward and Alice Ethel Cornelison Toye. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, LA. Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy. Richard married Dorothy Ann Mills in Marshall on September 24, 1955. He was an electrician with Norit. Richard was a member of the American Legion, Electricians Union, and Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He loved bird watching, his cats and was a computer nut. Richard is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Toye; son, Gene Eric Toye and wife Lucy of Carrolton, TX; sisters, Pat Bergeron and husband Henry of Marshall, Sheila Williamson and husband Howard of Tyler; brothers, Mel Toye and wife Virgie of Powderly, TX, Terry Toye and wife Susan of Tomboll, TX; grandchildren, David Toye of Nacogdoches, TX, Amanda Toye of Carrolton, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, a very special step-mother Edwina Toye and a niece Wendy Coleman.
