A Celebration of Life Service for Robert "Mike" McFarland, 68, of Waskom, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2021 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home, Marshall, Texas. A time for visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Downs Funeral Home. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Waskom, Texas. Mike has requested that those that are able to attend the service, come dressed in camouflage clothing if you have it, as this is what you most often found him wearing.
Mike McFarland was born on June 2, 1953 in Bossier City, LA to Robert Lee McFarland and Peggy Jane Wynne McFarland and passed away suddenly on November 23, 2021 at his home in Waskom, Texas.
He loved most of all, his family, as well as hunting, fishing and picking, pestering and joking with those he loved most. He always had a quick and witty comeback for anything you had to say to him. He was a man of his own that could sometimes be referred to as "stubborn". He could one minute be a grumpy old grizzly bear and the next minute a warm fuzzy teddy bear ready to offer a hug. He loved twirling his "girls" hair and delighted in spending time with his grandkids, nieces and nephews. He also loved to chauffer his grand girls back and forth and they referred to him as "Bop." He even considered his nieces and nephews as his own children and loved them all equally as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Peggy McFarland.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Vickie Lynn Hayes McFarland; one daughter, Kyla Allene McFarland Lee and husband Scotty; one son, Cody Michael McFarland and wife Taylor; one brother, Lee McFarland and one sister, Kathy Baugh and husband Charlie; 4 grandchildren, Tatum McFarland, Colby Lee, Paisley McFarland and Carrigan Lee as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
