Robert Murl "Robbie" Sooter, 62 of Marshall, Texas passed away June 7, 2019.  He was born October 19, 1956 in Texarkana, Arkansas to James W. "Jake" Sooter and Doris Jones Sooter.

Robbie was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved being outdoors. He graduated from Marshall High School and the Red Jones College of Knowledge. Robbie loved his hunting dogs and was a professional dog trainer.  He always had a sense of humor and quick wit. Robbie was loved and will be missed by many.

Robbie is survived by his two sons, Robert Brandon Sooter of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Bradley Murl Sooter and wife, Chris of Marshall, Texas; grandson, Samuel Robert Sooter; mother, Doris Sooter Grimes of Marshall, Texas; brother, Jodie Sooter and wife, Linda McGeorge Sooter of Marshall, Texas; sister, Edie Sooter Holland and husband, David of Marshall, Texas; partner, Sarah Willett of Marshall, and her children, Jessica Willett of Tyler, Texas and Peter Willett, also of Tyler.   Also surviving Mr. Sooter is his special cousin, Mike Jones of Poway, California; his nephew and niece, Austin Holland and wife, Colby, and Jennah Holland Barr and husband, Brian ,also of Elysian Fields; and several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Coburn officiating.  A time of visitation will precede the service from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marshall Animal Shelter, Pet Place, or Heartsway Hospice in his memory.
