Funeral services for Roger "Bubba" Hurd will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Woodlawn, Texas. Mr. Hurd passed away July 27, 2012 in Shreveport. Brother Roger "Bubba" Hurd was born May 26, 1941 in Woodlawn, TX to the late Dock Hurd Sr. and Gracie Brooks-Hurd. Bubba was born one of four children and preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, brother , and one son, Otis Hurd. Bubba was educated in Woodlawn Public Schools, and H.B. Pemberton High School. At an early age, he united with Starlight Missionary Baptist Church were he was an usher and did numerous duties in the church. He remained a faithful member until his unfortunate accident. He departed this life on July 27, 2012 at Promise Hospital in Shreveport, LA. which was a deep and personal loss to his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, James (Pamala) Hurd, Evan (Toshia) Hurd, both of Woodlawn, TX and Kevin (Toyna) Hurd of Carthage, TX.; one sister, Ella Tippens of Marshall, TX; grandchildren, Dekeldrick, Nikki, Dravon, Antonio, DeKevien, Jamecia, Devan, Kyla; 4 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
