Obituary

A funeral service for Mrs. Rosie Mae McCoy will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Downs Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Downs Funeral Home.

Rosie Mae McCoy was born on Thursday, July 29, 1948 to Reuben Preston Roberson, Sr and Myrtle Lee Hall Roberson in Marshall, Texas. She attended public school in Elysian Fields and graduated from Elysian Fields High School. At an early age, she professed her love for Christ. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in DeBerry, Texas until her health failed her.

Rosie was a very lively person, and she touched the lives of people everywhere she went. She loved taking daily walks, cooking for her family, playing her hand-held electronic games, puzzle games, crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved dancing with her family! She had a strong passion for caring for others which is why she worked for Jordan Home Health so she could do what she loved doing.

Preceded her in death was her parents, her sister Ruthie Mae Roberson Jones and her brother Reuben Preston Roberson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of over 40 years, Aldophus "Bo Peep" McCoy, who never left her side and her children Patricia (Derrick) Jones, Christina (Dana Ray) Leonard, Sabrina Rana Jones, Felicia (Dale) Still, Aldophus Vernard Jones, Cedric DeWayne Jones, and Margaret Cynthia Jones. Two brothers, Jackie (Wanda) Roberson and John L. Roberson, nine grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
