Obituary

A funeral service for Roslyn Parrish Groen, 79, of Marshall will be held at 1:00p.m., Saturday, October 07, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Rustenhaven officiating. Interment will follow the service in Algoma Cemetery. Mrs. Groen passed away Wednesday, October 04, 2017 in Marshall.

Roslyn Parrish Groen was born August 10, 1938 in Marshall, Texas to Pat D. and Jewell Rankin Parrish. On December 19, 1959, Roslyn married Carl Groen. Together, they would spend the next 57, almost 58 years raising their family, spoiling grandchildren, and loving and caring for one another. She worked for many years as a Secretary for the Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and as Secretary for Kingwood Baptist Church. While Roslyn and Carl lived in other cities and states over the years, even other countries, her heart was in Marshall and she remained close with her family and childhood friends. Roslyn was well traveled having lived all over the United States and West Africa. She enjoyed taking trips, seeing new places, experiencing different ways of life and meeting new friends. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge with friends and loved watching football, especially her Texas Longhorns. Roslyn was a longtime member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marshall.

Surviving Roslyn is her loving husband of 57 years, Carl Groen of Marshall; daughter, Kelly Wetmore and husband, Brad of Hermosa Beach, CA; son, Donald Todd Groen and wife, Paige of The Woodlands, TX; brothers, Pat W. Parrish and Don W. Parrish, both of Marshall; four grandchildren, Jackson, Haley, Garrett, and Paysse. She is also survived by numerous friends and extended family.

Roslyn was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Jewell Parrish.
