Obituary

Rowena Ivey Duggan was born on January 26, 1936, in Childress, Texas to George Odis and Ebbie Mae Ivey, the eldest child of 5 during The Great Depression and prior to WWII she knew how to pinch a penny. Her high school years Ro was known for her basketball skills and her Sassiness her descendants got it from somewhere.

She worked and retired from Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. A critical facility for maintaining the safety, security, and reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. She worked for 27 years starting off as a switchboard operator and majority of her years transporting parts between facilities via a bicycle for 12-hour shifts enduring all Texas Panhandle weather conditions.

She was an active member at the First Baptist Church of Waskom Texas until 2020.
She was known for being a diva fashionista. The Audrey Hepburn or our Jackie-O. She was known for her flawless skin, the envy of all her grandchildren. Always in style and cool. To us she was GrandRo, GrannyRo, RoRo.

If you needed to locate Miss Rowena in the store, try the shoes, then jewelry, and then the makeup counter. She was known for her weekly Golden Chick visit. If you needed life advice and wanted to hear what she has to say…then brace yourself. She liked a meticulously kept yard and a clean, tidy house. She was not one to hold back if she thought you were overindulging. Quick witted, sweet, kind heart, she had a great laugh, and she loved Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Odis Ivey and Ebbie Mae Ivey and sister, Lena Pearl Bates.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Hughes and husband, Steve of Waskom; sister, Louise Mullins and Patricia Herring of Amarillo; brother, Larry Ivey of Georgia; grandchildren, Jeremy Hughes and wife, Candice, Jaime Hughes and husband, David Dowler and Jennifer Hughes all of Waskom; great grandchildren, Loren Hughes, Logan Hughes and wife, Alexis, Zoey McFarland, Zara McFarland, Zane McFarland, Zeke Dowler and Lucy Hammock all of Waskom and several nieces and nephews along with other family and friends.

She will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Versus she had written down:
Revelations 21:4; Psalm 46:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Isaiah 54:10; John 14:6

"Is death the final sleep, no it is the final awakening."
