Roy E. Johnson was born October 26, 1948 to Leonard and Dovie Jo Johnson in Shreveport, Louisiana. Roy grew up in Waskom where he attended Waskom public schools. He was an avid sportsman, an all-district linebacker in high school, and active in the Waskom FFA. At the age of 19, Roy was drafted into the United States Military and was sent to Berlin where he was stationed during the war. Roy continued to serve our country with honor for the next 15 years, in the National Guard.
In 1974, Roy and his family moved to Marshall, his home for the next 43 years. In Marshall Roy remained active in the local FFA and 4-H chapters. He enjoyed helping kids raise and show livestock, and he was quite the artist when it came to clipping a calf. Animals were a passion for Roy and that love of animals was passed along to his son, Chip.
Roy's friends were like family to him and he loved them all dearly. Thursday nights spent with friends were one of his favorite nights of the week.
In 2005 Roy became a grandfather. It was then Roy experienced a love like no other, only the love a grandfather would know. All of Roy's grandchildren meant the world to him and they all loved their "Pop"!
