Funeral services for Ruby Hicks Handy, 62, of Marshall, TX will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Nichols Cemetery. Mrs. Handy passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall, TX. Ruby Hicks Handy was born in Marshall, TX to Lorean and Rufus Patrick, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of H.B. Pemberton Jr./Sr. High School. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at Marshall Manor. Ruby is survived by her husband, Leonard Ray Handy of Marshall, TX; 1 son, Leonard Hicks of Longview, TX; 5 daughters, Vicki Hicks, Telisha Handy, Partinya Handy, Priscilla Handy and LaShonda Armstrong of Longview, TX; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 8 nieces and nephews; 3 sisters, Mattie Dillard of Marshall, TX, Laverne Allen of Dallas, TX, Shelia Potter of Ennis, TX; 2 brothers, Walter Hicks of Marshall, TX, Rufus Patrick of Dallas, TX; and many other family members and friends who knew and loved her.
