Funeral services for Ms. Ruby Nadine Moore Vickers, 88 of Waskom will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday March 03, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Peyton and Rev. Jim Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in DeBerry under the direction of Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7p.m., Wednesday March 02, 2011 at the funeral home. Ms. Vickers passed away Tuesday, March 01, 2011 at her home. Ruby Vickers was born May 31, 1922 in Overton, Texas to Ervin and Jewel Gibson Moore of Henderson, Texas. She married Walter Gus Vickers on September 09, 1938. Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church of Waskom and was a life long member of Eastern Star Lodge in Waskom. She retired from Thiokol after 37 years of service. Ruby loved sports, especially basketball and football. She left behind family and friends that will cherish her memory. Surviving Ruby are son, Jerry Vickers and wife Anita of Waskom; daughter, Jeanne Lewis also of Waskom; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Moore and wife Charlene of Henderson; grandchildren, Paul Vickers and wife Deanna, Dee Ann Copeland, Ronnie Vickers and wife Cristie, Cindy Hay and husband Prentis, Jody Vickers and wife Marti, Angie Reese and husband Terry , Dawn Smith and husband Scott and Kenneth McCreary, Jr. and wife Robyn ; great-grandchildren, Holly, Paige, Byron, Baylee, Bobby, Ashley, Michael, Brittany, Brooke, Lane, Prentis, III , Samantha and Kayla and Catie and great-great grandchildren, Taylor, Becca and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Joe Bob Vickers, two sisters, Betty Hardwick and Jean Schlanger and two grandsons, John Vickers and Billy Don Vickers. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Vickers, Jody Vickers, Mike Hardwick, Don Hardwick, Prentis Hay, II and Paul Vickers.
