A Celebration of Life Service for Russell Gene Beaty will be held at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, TX on Thursday, January 16 at 2PM. A visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at 1PM.
Russell Gene Beaty, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather went to be with our Lord and all the loved family members and friends that preceded him in death on January 12, 2025. Russell passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and five grandsons.
Russell was born July 17, 1951, in Marshall, TX to Wendell Emerson Beaty and Mabel Stone Beaty. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1969. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 1975. He continued his education at East Texas Baptist College in Marshall where he would meet his future wife, Jolene Bass, in the human anatomy lab. The main stint of his professional career was spent at Witco which eventually became Pergan in Marshall. He was a dedicated and valued employee there for thirty years until his retirement.
Russell and Jolene were married on July 14, 1979, in Marshall, TX. They went on to have two beloved daughters, Hanna and Gabrielle. Russell always instilled self-sufficiency and independence in his girls, but he also made it known that they could always come home if they needed to. Russell's legacy continued when his two daughters had five sons between the two of them. Russell is known to his grandsons as "Papaw," with the youngest, Jude Russell Pfalzgraf, carrying his name. Russell loved to watch and laugh as the grandsons ran, played and wrestled.
Russell was an avid outdoorsman with a great love for fishing and hunting. He was happy to be outside whether it was in the woods, on the lake, or in his backyard by his fire. Russell liked sports and played many sports during his school years, but his favorite sport was boxing. Russell could be a jokester, and many hours have been spent reminiscing about his funny sayings and impersonations. He loved animals, and children gravitated toward him because of his fun and comical personality. Russell worked hard, but he loved to have a good time. All his and his wife's hard work was dedicated to ensuring their daughters had beautiful lives and that they were taught values and ethics they could pass on through their own families.
Russell was preceded in death by his father Wendell Beaty, his mother Mabel Beaty, and niece Heather Davis along with several loved aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Russell is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Kathy Jolene Beaty, daughter Hanna Giselle Martinez (husband Isaac Martinez), Gabrielle Kristine Beaty (husband Charles Pfalzgraf IV), sister Gayle Keller, brother-in-law Auvil Keller, sister Regina "Reggie" Heaton, Aunt June White, and five grandsons, Truett Yates, Isaac "Isa" Martinez, Mateo Martinez, Charles "Charlie" Pfalzgraf V, and Jude Pfalzgraf. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly.
Russell's family loved him dearly and immensely, and his memory will continue through many generations. Russell succeeded in building a strong legacy during his seventy-three years on Earth. He lived a full life and will be missed, and while his passing brings sadness, his family is rejoicing in his victory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations to be made to Parkinson's Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
