Obituary

Samuel Brown, age 87, formerly of Marshall passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Killeen, Texas. Mr. Brown was born December 23, 1928 in Marshall, Texas to the parentage of the late John L. Brown, Jr. and Octavia Williams Brown.

At an early age he joined Springhill Baptist Church and he also attended Marshall Public Schools.

On August 14, 1957, he married the love of his life, Annie Marie Lane Brown and remained married for 29 years until her death on August 28, 1986. To this union five children were born.

Mr. Brown was employed by ICI Americas, Inc. (currently Cabot Norit Americas) until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, farming and raising cattle. You could find him on most Saturdays at the auction barn, buying and selling livestock. He was a strict disciplinarian that taught his children right from wrong. He further instilled in his children the meaning of education and that hard work would always pay off.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Marie Brown; parents, John L. Brown and Octavia Brown; two sisters, Ethel Lee Edwards and Mary Lee Chambers; three brothers, John L. Brown, III, Laverne Brown, and Willie Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Larry Brown (Cynthia) of Plano, TX; Calvin Brown (Sylvia) of Marshall, TX. Three daughters: Patricia Abrams Parker (Noble) of Jefferson, TX; Glora Brown Alberty of Killeen, TX., and Glenda Timmins (Zephaniah) of Marshall, TX. Twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive Mr. Brown.

He loved his wife, admired and respected his children and liked just about every dog he ever met. The patriarch of the Brown family will forever live in our hearts.
