A funeral service for Sandra Elaine Briggs, 74, of Midlothian, Texas, formerly of Marshall, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Walnut Springs Cemetery in DeBerry, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the funeral home.

Sandra was born on December 15, 1949, in Marshall, Texas to William Olene Briggs and Esther Mae Ratley Briggs and passed away on November 1, 2024, in Midlothian, Texas.

She was born and raised in Marshall, Texas and began driving when she was in the 5 th grade. She began working at Kroger's when they first opened in Marshall and worked until her retirement in 1995. She had a work ethic like no other and was able to pass that trait down to her children. She had a demeanor that was out of this world. If she loved you and let you in, you were not only considered a friend but considered family to her. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She had a special love for her grandchildren, and they were her life. No matter the event, she was going to make sure their grandma was there. Being present in their lives was her top priority. Her grandchildren will be left with many memories. Most of those will involve late nights at grandma's house where she taught every single one of them how to play Skip-Bo and Phase 10. She made sure those nights were all about spending time with them and filling their hearts full of laughter. Playing cards accompanied by popcorn, ice cream, popsicles, pop tarts, Little Debbie snacks, pretzels and buttered toast, because no one can make buttered toast like grandma can.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther Briggs and son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Elliott.

She is survived by her daughters, Tabitha Anne Ayers and spouse, Jan and Jennifer Diane Elliott; sisters, Vicky Briggs Laird and husband, Dan and Suzanne Briggs Bridges and husband, Ed; grandchildren, Christina Nancy Reading, William Ryan Ayers, Dr. Nevada Lane Jordan, Colby Wayne Ayers and wife, Mackenzie, Staff Sergeant Caleb River Jordan and wife, Vanessa, Teya Danielle De La Fuente and husband, Enrique, Zoe Jane Elliott, Zachary William Duhart, Jayda Rose Stevens and Laykin Reese Elliott and great grandchildren, Benjamin Cooper Ayers, Emilio Solis De La Fuente, Jameson Banner Ayers and Sarah Diane De La Fuente along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

A special thank you to her caregivers, Karri Renee Fincher and Kylie Lynn Cuellar, who became her beloved friends.
