Sandra Barrett White

Funeral services for Sandra Barrett White, 57 of Marshall will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1st at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father John Himes officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will be held at All Saints Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church immediately after interment.

There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Downs Funeral Home.

Mrs. White died peacefully at her home Saturday, February 27th in Marshall after a battle with cancer. She was born January 9, 1959 in Marshall to Don and Norma Barrett. Sandra married Wes White on December 23, 1994. She had resided in Marshall since 1995, moving here from Longview.

Mrs. White co-owned and operated Marshall Homecare and Hospice along with her husband since 2005. She was also a co-owner with her husband of Marshall Manor Nursing Home until 2009. Although not a trained nurse, she found her calling was working with the elderly in the nursing home. It was her idea to form a locally owned home care and hospice company hence came Marshall Home Care and Hospice. Sandra loved going to work every day and interacting with patients, their families, and the employees. It was her wish the family continue to own and manage the company and so shall it remain.

Mrs. White was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed dearly by all the lives she touched. She loved her family and any activity that they were involved in, including attending Cowboys' and Rangers' games, concerts, trips to Florida and New York City, among others. She had a vivacious and magnetic personality and a very strong will. Sandra believed in helping others and giving back to the Marshall community. She was a member and former President of the Marshall Symphony League, and was a supporter of many local charities and organizations including, but not limited to, the Marshall Regional Arts Council, CASA, Empty Stocking Fund, Marshall Hospital Foundation, Twelve Way Foundation, Marshall Athletics, Trinity Episcopal School, and Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Wes White, of Marshall: her children, Brandon White and wife Allison, of Longview, and Spencer White of College Station: grandchildren, Barrett White, of Longview: three brothers, Don Barrett, Jr. and wife Sheri, of Diana, Anthony Barrett and wife Tricia of White Oak, and David Barrett, of Longview. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Norma Barrett.

Pallbearers will be David Robertson, Vinod Patel, Stuart Agnor, Derek Dunaway, Ron Walsh, and Richard Hutsell. Honorary Pallbearers will be her uncle, Danny Barrett, of Marshall, cousin, Jeff Barrett, of Longview, and nephews.

The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to Marshall Homecare and Hospice for the loving care given over the last year. A special thank you to employees Norma Widon, RN, Sue Perkins, RN, Misty Davis, RN, Destiny Andrus, RN, Hospice aides Nova Johnson and Benita Armstrong, and private sitters, Wanda Perkins, Evelyn Bird, and Tracy Brock.
