Sheila Inez
"Mawmaw" Edwards
Nov 28, 1962 — Oct 1, 2025
Waskom
Sheila Inez Edwards was called home by the Lord on October 1st, 2025.
Sheila was born on November 28th, 1962 in Longview, Texas to Benjamin Adolphas and Aleen Inez Tucker Milam.
Sheila grew up in the Beckville and Carthage area. She was born to a poor family, but would always proudly declare that she was rich in love. She took that love she was surrounded with and made it her mission to spread it to others. She dedicated her life to helping people, even if it meant personal sacrifice. She left school in the 8th grade to get a job and help her family with the finances. At every job she held, she gave 120%. When she started her own family and decided to stay at home with her children, she put her all into that as well. She cooked delicious homemade meals, threw birthday parties, attended games, volunteered at PTA fundraisers, sat in on classes, brought snacks for holiday parties, stayed up late helping with projects, and so, so much more. Her devotion also went beyond her own family—she acted as a mother figure to whoever was in need of one and was a foster parent for several years. She rejoined the workforce later in life and became a loyal Walmart employee for five years as a door greeter/loss protection. She genuinely loved what she did and she felt fulfilled helping the customers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ted Sipes, Mark Milam, Chester Milam, "Benji" Milam, and Daniel Milam; four sisters, Ethelene Carter, Benilou Milam, Charlene Milam, and Betty Jean Sipes; and one granddaughter, Piper Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, John "Johnny" Edwards, whom she had just celebrated 43 years of marriage with in September; four sons, John Edwards, Jason Edwards, Kenny Edwards, and Joshua Edwards; two daughters, Amy Rivers and Wilshayla "Shay" Edwards; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Ronny Sipes and Kenneth Milam; sister-in-laws Audrey Sipes and Pat Saunders; and many other precious loved ones.
Sheila left a legacy of selflessness and compassion. To the world, she was simply known as Sheila, but to those who loved her, she was "Mama", "Maw Maw", and "Aunt Sheila."
She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. However, she would also want us to find peace in knowing that she's in Heaven waiting for us, where she's no longer suffering and looking down on us with her other loved ones.
