Visitation for Sherry Hanson will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, TX. Sherry Hanson, 75, of Uncertain, passed away June 4, 2015. "Sugar" touched many lives with her caring and generous nature. She enjoyed cooking just to give to others. Sherry loved spending time with family and friends at her home on Caddo Lake for over 30 years. Sherry was born September 30, 1939, in Marshall, TX, to Roger and Rittie Jane Scogins. She attended Marshall Schools and obtained her Beautician's License. Previous employment included the Masonic Home in Arlington, Heat Research in Longview, and East Texas Mack Trucks in Longview. Survivors include daughter, Penny Dikes; granddaughter and "light of her life", Andria Dikes; cousins, Johnnie Lanier, James Gibson and wife Martha and Gerald Gibson and wife Emily. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Preston; husband, Wallace Hanson; brother, Wayne Scogins; long-time companion, Ronnie Henry; and special friend, Gene Walker. Extended family includes Bruce Tucker and family, Mike and Scottie Anton, Phyllis Oxman, Karen and Christine Holtzman, Jeff and Gloria Roe, Lyle and Emma Mae Bowlden, Jerry and JoAnn Davis, John and Marcie Barr and girls, and Erica Raminez-Pinedo. Special thanks to the caring staff at Heritage House Nursing Home and Marshall Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to P.O.I.N.T. at Caddo Lake for handicapped individuals.
