Obituary

Stephen Alfred Huffman, also known as Stephen Earl Newsome, and affectionately called Steve, Honey, Bro, Grandpa, Dad, and Friend, was born on May 17,1960, and passed away peacefully in his Jefferson Tx. home on December 18, 2025, following a lengthy illness.

Steve was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeremy Muse; his birth mother, Marie Menchu; and brother Charles Ray Martin; his sister, Nina G. Huffman; and his adopted parents, A. O. Huffman and Norene H. Huffman.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Ruth Snow-Huffman; his son, Jeffery Muse of Missouri; His sister Donna Taylor Mathis ( Al ), and his brothers, Lloyd Sibley and Wayne Newsome and many special family friends through love and shared life, including Tommy, Rhonda, Danny, Stephanie, Chantelle, Robby, and all of their children. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and some grands.

Steve leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering service to others. He loved the Lord deeply, and his faith was evident in the way he lived—always ready to offer love, prayer, and encouragement to anyone in need. He lived with quiet strength and resilience, never one to rest if something needed to be done. If he had something and someone needed it, it was freely given.

Music was one of Steve's greatest passions. He had a deep love for songwriting and a heartfelt calling to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and shared experiences. He contributed lyrics and compositions to more than fifty songs and shared his gift by performing in churches and on bandstands across Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana. His music, like his life, reflected his devotion, humility, and love for the Lord.

Among his other passions are classic cars, trucks, and anything related to motorcycles. He understood that life, much like the open road, was about the journey as much as the destination, and he embraced each season with gratitude, faith, along with a profound sense of humor with a love for cartoons, and especially * MASH *. Steve was also a talented artist and had skills in ac repair , mechanics, and carpentry, construction even having overseen contracting crews.

As a Christian sojourner, Steve longed, like many believers, to one day hear the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Above all, Steve was always there for others, faithfully offering prayer, compassion, help, and friendship. His life was a testament to service, faith, and the enduring power of love lived out through action and song.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

Colossians 3:16
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
