Steven Mark
Boyd
Aug 6, 1961 — Oct 10, 2025
Longview
Steven Mark Boyd, 64, of Longview, passed away peacefully at 1:55 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Longview.
He was born August 6, 1961 in Pensacola, Florida to Garland Mark Boyd and Wilma Lancaster Boyd.
They both preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 3 pm Friday, October 17, 2025 at Downs Funeral Home Chapel in Marshall. A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm prior to the service.
We have donated Steve's body to a medical school in Austin adding merit to his 30 years as a registered nurse. He worked at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview and loved the people he worked with. He enjoyed his years there and reflected on those days in the last months of his life. He took his job as Emergency Room charge nurse very seriously and always took the opportunity to teach new nurses, knowing that the day would come for passing the torch.
He had a caring heart and rarely had a negative word about anyone except Donald Trump. In his last days and in cognitive decline, when asked who the president was...well we won't go there!
He met Morgan Scott on January 14, 1997 and finally in 2015, the Supreme Court gave equal rights to all love and they married on January 14, 2018. They shared a 30 year relationship and enjoyed every minute. New York was their city of choice for vacationing. After about 10 trips there, health began slowing them both down and they just enjoyed being at home staying caught up on their favorite television shows and taking care of their animals. Morgan is a dog lover and made Steve one as well. At least that's what Morgan says! During their 30 years they've had over 15 dogs and cats, each loved unconditionally. There's 4 left, Lawlly, Abby, Tabby and Dobbie. This last year, they lost 4 and added one. Steve said that was it and anymore would be sleeping on the porch...with Morgan! They have rescued and saved the lives of these animals and encourage you to do the same. Maybe not as many, but just one makes a difference to that one animal.
Steve was very spiritual and believed that when he died he would see God and enter heaven. He was excited about seeing his mom and even called out to her as he was slipping away.
Survivors are his husband of 30 years Morgan Scott Boyd of Longview, nieces and nephews, Brandi Posey of Longview, Meagan and Jerry Wallace of Union Grove, Dylan Steller of Longview, Matthew Boyd and fiance' Jesica Peacock of Daingerfield, Dr. Stacie Beene of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Heather Boyd of Longview.
He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Chuck Boyd and his sister Tina Steller. He was also preceded in death by a nephew Jeffrey Boyd.
The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff in the hospice unit at Longview Regional Medical Center and Chambers Hospice. These nurses are angelic in what they do on a daily basis and go above and beyond.
We would also like to thank Downs Funeral Home for the wonderful service they have given our family. Marshall is blessed to have this exceptional funeral home. Thank you Keith and Patricia Downs for your help time and time and time again. Also to Paige Burks and Kim Richardson we give special thanks. We could not have put this beautiful tribute to Steve together without both of you.
Although we lost Steve much sooner than we would have chosen, we are thankful for the love he gave us.
For that, praise be to God.
