Susan Oney Jones of Marshall gained her angel wings on February 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 22, 1959, to Leon and Shirley Oney in Marshall, Texas. She attended Marshall High School and graduated in 1977. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald Lynn Jones, on February 3, 2018, and remained devoted to him until his passing on September 30, 2023. Susan was employed with TSTC for 32 years before retiring in 2019.

She was a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord above all else. Her daughters and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to attend any activity they were involved in. She loved the outdoors—whether camping, feeding her horse, Coco, fishing, or mowing, she could almost always be found outside. She also loved to travel and, in September, fulfilled her dream of visiting Alaska and Canada. She was selfless with her time, serving her church by working in the front office, ministering in Kids Life, and assisting elderly members with life's needs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jones; parents, Leon and Shirley Oney and her grandparents.

She is survived by her two daughters, Summer Gaskill and husband Matt of Fate, Texas, and Lace Trout and husband Robert of Waxahachie, Texas; five grandchildren, Layne, Ty, and Roan Gaskill of Fate, Texas, and Ansley and Luke Trout of Waxahachie, Texas; her brothers, Mike Oney and wife Gretchen of Marshall, Texas, and Daniel Santander and wife Jennifer of Longview, Texas; her three beloved dogs, Fergie, Max, and Cricket; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and grandparents.

A Celebration of Life service for Susan Oney Jones will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Cypress Valley Bible Church. Burial will follow at Grange Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.
