Sylvia Brown passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at her home. She was born July 9, 1940 in Houston, TX.  Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Clyde Tidmore of Marshall, TX, and one daughter, Laurie Lyn of Houston, TX.  Sylvia and her late husband, Waylon Brown were longtime residents of Marshall and owned several restaurants in Marshall and the surrounding area.  The Browns were best known for Brown's Fried Chicken and Brown's Country Cooking. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her three children and their spouses; Cheryl Brown and Marc Davidson, Traci and Louis Brock of Marshall, and Craig and Jennifer Brown of Athens, TX

Grandchildren include Claire Nichols of Tyler, TX, Adam and Katelyn Brock of Lake Charles, LA, Colin Brock of Marshall, Garrett and Brianna Brown, Baylee Brown and Kennedy Brown, of Athens, TX and one great grandchild, Hannah Brock of Lake Charles, LA.

A private family service will be held.

There will be a public visitation at Downs Funeral Home from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017.
