Funeral services for Taya Janai Cooper, 34, of Karnack will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 16, 2010 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Mill Cemetery in Marshall. Viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday October 15, 2010 at the funeral home. Ms. Cooper passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 following a brief illness. Taya Janai Cooper was born November 29, 1975 the daughter of Thomas James Cooper and Roberta Taylor Cooper. She attended Marshall public schools. Ms. Cooper was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church and worked as a claims adjuster for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Marshall. She enjoyed life and socializing with her friends and family. Surviving Taya are her mother, Roberta Cooper, of Karnack; father, Thomas Cooper, of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Tyzavion Cooper and Curtis Higgs, Jr., both of Karnack; brother, Ramsey Cooper, of Arlington; step-father, Ludolph Powell, of Marshall; God-sister, Kashon Powell, of Philadelphia, PA ;three uncles, George Taylor, of Houston, Robert Taylor and Willie Gaut, both of Marshall; friends, Curtis Charles Higgs,Sr.and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Higgs, all of Longview and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Keith Jones, Kirk Jones, Dezzerick Gaut, Bryan Powell, Kendrick Jones, and Doug Roach.
