Thomas Fredrick
Sims
May 7, 1934 — Feb 7, 2018
Thomas Fredrick Sims (Sims) was born to Edmond Sims, JR. and Lottie Bell Robinson Sims on May 7, 1934, in Panola County, TX. He attended Mission Hill School until the family was forced to move to West, TX. for work to support the family and worked as migrant workers.
Upon returning to Harrison County he united with the New Hope Baptist Church in Scottsville, TX. and served as a deacon and church treasurer until departing this life. He worked all his life and enjoyed work because he enjoyed caring for his family. He was employed with Applebaum's Scrap Metals in Marshall, TX. until their closing, US Precision Glass in Jefferson, TX. until their closing, and most recently at Matthews Construction, Waskom, TX. until December 2017 (leaving due to family obligations). Work is what Mr. Sims was about.
Mr. Sims was the father of five children; two daughters and three sons; Brenda Lee Sims, Sharon Denise Sims, Dewayne Sims, Kenneth Sims, and Christopher Sims.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Josiephine Stephens Sims of 44 years; step-daughter, Linda Stephens Jones Bultman of Sumter, South Carolina; one brother, Herbert Sims of Witchita Falls, TX; two sisters, Jenny Perkins and Zella (Lonnie) Pounds both of Ft. Worth, TX. Because of his warm, happy go-lucky disposition, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and the local community will truly miss his (always had a joke or funny saying to share) attitude.
