Obituary

In the wee hours of Wednesday December 3rd, 2025, Tim Holt of Marshall, Texas passed from his earthly home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Tim was born on February 15th, 1942, in Overton, Texas to his parents Olney James Holt, Sr. and Ruby Lee Thompson. He was the youngest child of four boys.

Tim grew up in Marshall, Texas after some time later, he moved with his mother and stepfather Kal Walters to Falfurrias, Texas. Kal worked for Exxon in those days, and they lived on the King Ranch!

While living down there Tim got to live his favorite hobby of being a cowboy- working the cattle and riding horses. He learned to speak Spanish, as his school friends were mostly Hispanic and Hispanic cowboys on the ranch, which he loved. When he was older, he moved back home to be with his father and brothers.

He joined the Navy in his early 20's after which he began his career in welding, following in The Holt family tradition. He was an avid and proud member of Pipeline Local #798 for 63 years. He was a welder and worked all over the United States, and overseas. He finished his career as a welding inspector. While overseas he not only welded on lay barges but ran pipeline jobs for major construction companies in the capacity as Job Superintendent. In between his welding career, he and Phil Parker formed a partnership in a construction company called Phoenix Pipeline. Tim left after several years and went back to work for 798! Tim was known for being one of the best welders in his industry, and his work ethic was impeccable.

Tim loved home and loved his family. He was a good and loving husband, a relationship that survived the test of time, devoted father, and provider. He was happy to retire and told his family that he wasn't leaving home again, that he has been around the world three times welding, and all over the United States, and he wasn't leaving home again. That he didn't want to go no higher than corn or no lower than taters. He held true to his word! He did exactly that.

In December of 1964, Tim met the love of his life and married Eva Campbell on June 18, 1965, in Marshall, Texas. They had a son Michael Todd Holt and a daughter Lea Ann Holt. They bought a home in the Crossroads area, south of Marshall, Texas and made it their home for 55 years. Tim and Eva were Christians and raised their children in the Christian faith at Crossroads Methodist Church.

In his younger years, Tim loved being a cowboy and working cattle on his brother, Jim Holt's ranch and any other chance he could get chasing cows! Another one of his favorite past times was when he helped coach little league baseball with his son Todd. He was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed time spent at Cook's Deer Camp in the Gill Community. Tim loved Caddo Lake and after retiring, he and Eva enjoyed spending most of their time there with friends. Tim was a people person and he never met a stranger and loved visiting with his friends. To know Tim was to love him! As stated, he worked hard AND he played hard, making him QUITE a character. Living up to the saying - "there will never be another 'Tim Holt!"'

Tim is survived by his wife of 60 years! His daughter Lea-Ann Holt, Grandson Bodie Kirkland, Great Grands Ryleigh Kirkland and Kayne Kirkland all of Marshall. Grandson Tim Stephen Holt (Pepper) and his union with Meagan Burke, great grandson Miles Todd Holt, and step great grandson Dawson Burke of Hallsville, TX., sisters-in-law Katherine Bradford, Lynn Crowley, Brenda and husband David Alexander all of Longview, TX., Elaine Cobb, and Michael Campbell both of Marshall, TX. and their bonus daughter Betsy Wall.
