Tom Bowen was born January 30, 1943 in Tioga, Louisiana to Howard Pershing Bowen and Vanetta Louise Juneau Bowen. He passed away January 12, 2018 at the age of 74 in Marshall, Texas.

Tom came from a Military Family and lived in various parts of the world including Panama, Greece, the Philipines, and Homestead, Florida. He served in the US Air Force for eight years, and after leaving the Air Force worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 20 years.   After ten years as a Nursing Home Administrator, he returned to working as an Air Traffic Controller until his retirement.

He was a member of Light of the World Church in Marshall. He loved fishing and golfing.

Funeral services for Mr.Bowen will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. preceding the funeral service.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Bowen of Karnack; children, Tommy Bowen (Kay) of Marshall, Christy McGee (Scott) of Houston, and Burt Bowen (Jackie)of Harleton; brother, Chuck Bowen (Mitzi) of Woodlawn; grandchildren, Devan Ballard (Matt), Scotty McGee (Rachel), Brent Bowen, Heather Kraus (Jeff), Brooke Bowen, and Bryce Bowen; great grandchildren, Brailey Ballard, Brayden Ballard, Easton McGee, and Carson Kraus. He is also survived by his nephews, Justin Bowen and Hunter Bowen, and his niece, Jennifer Green Bowen.
