Tom "TC" Cruse McKay, 61, was born on August 10, 1964, in Tarrant County, Texas to Gerald Milton McKay and Patricia Alice Cruse McKay and passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home in Doyline, La.

TC was known for his strong spirit, unsolicited opinions, kind heart, unmistakable presence and out of this world gumbo. He lived life on his terms, valuing honesty, true friendship and simple pleasures such as hunting and fishing. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and definitely made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He will be remembered for his dedication to those he loved and his ability to bring comfort and laughter, even in difficult times. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Patricia McKay and brothers, Gordon Michael McKay and David McKay.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda McKay; children, Dorothy Alice McKay Wright (Bryan), Katheryne Michaele McKay (Christie), TC McKay, Richard Drake McKay, Lainee Nicole McKay and Paisley Ann Cruse McKay; grandchildren, Cortianah Bree Wright, Sebastian Scott Wright, Shila Maria Wright, Travis Conner McKay, Vincent McKay, Cheyanne McKay, Izzabell Marie Whitehead, William Ray Whitehead and Scott Evan Whitehead; great granddaughter, Arriebella Rose McCann and special loved ones, Maria Stiles, Colton Stiles, Adrianna Smith and the entire Book family along with other family and friends.

The loved ones that survives him will continue to honor his life and cherish the moments they shared.

TC leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty and love for those closest to him.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
