A memorial service for Tom "Buck" Mapps, Jr. will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Downs Funeral Home.

Tom "Buck" Mapps Jr of Marshall, Texas was born February 25, 1949 to his parents Tom Mapps Jr and Alice Jones Mapps.

He attended Marshall Public schools and graduated from H.B. Pemberton High School. After graduating Tom married Shirley Ann Curry.  They were married for 52 years and to this union blessed them with seven children.  He worked for Norit America/ICI/Darco and retired after 36 years.   Tom was a faithful and active member of New Point Church of Christ until Dementia took control of his health.  He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, telling a good joke and was loved by many.

On December 5, 2020, Tom departed this earthly life and entered in eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Alice Mapps, one brother Willie D. Connor and sister Nancy Marie Mapps.

Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his devoted and loving wife Shirley Mapps; children Marcus (Vanessa) Mapps, Dennis Mapps, Larry Mapps, Victor (Ruby) Mapps, Sharon Frederick, Tina (Barney) James and Kristy (Orestus) Cavness; sisters Jennie V (Deland) Wynn and Betty Mapps Murry and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
