A graveside service for Truman Oney, Sr., 85, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at New Grover Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September1, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home.

Truman was born on June 12, 1937, in Harleton, Texas to Bart Oney and Nettie Florence Lovejoy and passed away on August 27, 2022, in Marshall, Texas.

He married Johnnie Mae Jernigan on April 9, 1954, in Marshall, Texas. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 66 years. He liked working on cars, working on the farm, deer hunting, fishing with his family and growing flowers and trees. He enjoyed going to McDonalds and drinking coffee with his friends. He was a hard worker, great provider and loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Florence Oney and great grandson, Colton Oney.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Johnnie Oney; his children, Truman Oney, Jr. and wife, Kim, Rickey Oney and wife, Sheri, David Oney and wife, Tonya and Kimberly Oney; grandchildren, Truman Oney, III (Trey) and wife, Candie, Kyle Oney and wife, Bridget, Maknzy Billingslea and husband, Joe, Heather Oney and Randy Oney and wife, Melanie; great grandchildren, Shylar Sowell and husband, Cody, Rylan Oney, Tatum Oney, Dax Oney, Ava Carlisle, Max Carlisle, Anderson Billingslea, Addie Kate Billingslea, Annsley Billingslea, Madlyn Hairgrove, Mason Hairgrove, Oenomaus Knobles, Karley Jo Oney, Bubba Oney and Lanie Oney and great great granddaughter, Elena Sowell along with numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Immanuel Baptist Church Children's Ministries.
