Funeral services for Ulma Fife Somerford , 85, of Marshall will be 10:00a.m. Thursday January 10, 2019 at Downs Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Bryant officiating. Interment will be the next day in Hempstead, TX. The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Somerford died January 6, 2019 peacefully at home with family in Marshall.

Mrs. Somerford was born July 3, 1933 in Houston, TX. to James E. Fife and Imogene Hardy Fife. At age 15 the family moved to Hempstead, TX. She graduated from Hempstead High School and then was graduated from Sam Houston State University. She remained active with the Caroline Belvin Literary Society which became Alpha Delta Pi. Sorority. She was also a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution, Martha McCraw Chapter. She enjoyed her 36 years being involved with Mary Kay Cosmetics and being a retired Sales Director.

She was passionate about Caddo Lake, and the time spent there with her family at their lake house.

She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Bruce Somerford.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James Somerford; sons, Roby and wife, Kay, David, Brian and wife, Shawne; grandchildren, Amy and husband Garrett Arms, Rachel and husband, Jason Engle, Brian Jordan and wife, Taylor, Margaret and husband, Trevor Misera and Brophy Somerford.

Other relatives are her sister, Alberta Hoover and brother, Jim Fife and wife, Burnice, a brother-in-law, Jerry Somerford and wife, Nelda, and several nieces and nephews.

The family has requested all donations be made to Cypress Valley Bible Church.
