Funeral services for Vance Grabener, 91, of Elysian Fields will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday December 4, 2011 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Bro. David Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Elysian Fields Cemetery under the direction of Downs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011. Mr. Grabener passed away December 1, 2011 at his residence. Vance Grabener was born March 8, 1922 in Chaneyville, Louisiana to Julius Edward Grabener and Elizabeth Brown Grabener. On March 13, 1943, he married Dorothy Brown in Bossier City, Louisiana. They were married 68 years. Vance served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Ardennes. He was also a truck driver having retired from S&W Metal Fabricators. Surviving Vance are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Brown Grabener of Elysian Fields ;four sons, Donnie Vance Grabener of Shreveport, Dannie Edward Grabener and Dennie Joe Grabener both of Elysian Fields and David Wayne Grabener of Shreveport; nine daughters, Mary Farrell and husband Ronnie and Jeanie Owen and husband Arnold all of Shreveport, Linda Haney and Patricia Lindsey and husband Bobby all of Elysian Fields, Brenda Tauzin and husband John of Logansport, Shirley Brister and husband Danny and Rebecca Schooley all of Elysian Fields, Tammy Barras and husband Geoff of Marshall, and Libby Brooks and husband Roy of New Hill, NC; twenty- eight grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Jefferson, Steven Jefferson, Paul Brister, Jon-Eric Grabener, and Luis Trujillo.
