Graveside services for Vanessa Lynn Pigg Matthews will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Hallsville Cemetery in Hallsville with Joe Hancock, minister officiating. Ms. Matthews passed away on June 15, 2011 in Groveton, Texas. Vanessa was born in Dimmitt, Texas on January 16, 1969 to Carmon Douglas Pigg and Vivian Marguerite Shive Pigg. She grew up in Dimmitt, Texas, and moved to Hallsville in 1984, graduating from Hallsville High School. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her two sons, Cory Allen Smith of Longview, and Chesley Douglas Smith of Arp; one daughter, Victoria Jeanette Matthews of Tomball; her parents, Carmon & Vivian Pigg of Hallsville; her two brothers, Kirk Douglas Pigg & wife Leann of Amarillo, and Jeffrey Benson Pigg & wife Cindy of Dimmitt; her maternal grandmother, Ruth Gilliland of Tyler; six nieces and nephews, and six great nieces and nephews. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive Ms. Matthews. Vanessa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry Dual Pigg and Zula Marie Pigg, and her maternal grandfather, Eldon Francis Shive.
