Veda Mae Mathis was born on July 15, 1947, in Beckville, Texas to Norman "Dank" Butler and Virgie Mae Fleetwood Butler.  She passed away in Marshall on November 15, 2022.

She married David Neal Mathis husband of 54 years on October 11, 1968, in Marshall, Texas. She loved collecting dolls, cooking, and working outdoors and raising flowers. She also loved her family very much and the times they spent together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman "Dank" Butler and Virgie Mae Fleetwood Butler; five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Darrell Mathis, Anthony Mathis and Stormie Russell, Billy Mathis Jr. and wife Julie; sisters, Sherry Stewart and husband Bobby, Lottie Butler; grandson, Skyler Mathis and wife Kelsey; great grandchildren Koda Mathis and Kinleigh Mathis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
