Obituary

Vera Mae Anderson was born in Mooringsport, Louisiana on July 30, 1925 to Willard Allen George and Rena Ann Hatcher George. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2016. Vera loved her church and was a member of Judson Community Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, and the best cook ever. She was well known for her famous chicken and dumplings, which were made from scratch and the "best in the world". She loved fishing, camping and doing things with her grandkids. She was quite a craftsman and enjoyed making Christmas ornaments (her specialties were Angels and Stars). She also loved to sew, and made all the family quilts, which will always be treasures. Vera had a keen sense of humor.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Colonial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Downs Funeral Home, with a visitation preceding the service from 9-10 a.m.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Ruby Connell and husband, Bob of Jefferson, Mollie Futrell and husband, Donnie of Marshall, and Sue Moffatt, also of Marshall; her step-son, Mark Anderson of Marshall; step-daughter, Beverly Bennett and husband Ray, of Marshall. Also surviving Vera are her sister, Edna and husband Junior Harber, of Marshall, and her brother, William George of Jefferson, many grandkids, great grandkids, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Roy Lee Fry, grandson, John Mark Moffatt Sullivan, and step children, Ronald Fry and Shirley Brickey.

Memorials in her name may be made to Judson Community Baptist Church, PO Box 419, Judson, Texas 75660.
