Valreye (Val) Nichols Graveside services for Mrs. Valreye (Val) Nichols, 73 of Franklin TN., formerly of Marshall will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday June 14, 2011 in Algoma Cemetery South with Cal Staggers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday June 13, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Nichols passed away June 09, 2011 in Franklin, TN. Born January 17, 1938 in Canton, Texas, Val was one of six children born to Chester and Ella Mae Oliver. She graduated from Colorado City, Texas High School and married Jon D. Nichols in 1955. They resided in Marshall, Texas where she worked and retired from the Marshall Independent School District. She was also a part-time employee/ volunteer for the Harrison County, Texas election committee. Val and Jon moved from Marshall to Franklin, Tennessee in March 2006 to be near their son, Doug, daughter-in-law, Ann and grandson Malachi. Val enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially had fun with grandson, Malachi, she was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving Val are her son, Doug Nichols and daughter-in-law, Ann and grandson, Malachi Nichols all of Franklin, TN; brother Bill Oliver of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Shirley Harvey of Houston, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jon and son, David Paul Nichols, and three siblings.
