Services for Vernieta Beck, 66, of Harleton, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery in Harleton. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the funeral home.

Vernieta was born on August 18, 1958, in Gilmer, Texas to Lloyd Borden and Mary Lee Copeland Borden and passed away on May 17, 2025, at her residence in Harleton, Texas.

She enjoyed cooking for her family and made fried chicken like no-one else. She loved camping and made sure that there were always plenty of supplies just in case of emergencies. She was the most selfless person and was always taking care of others first. Most of all she loved her family and loved watching her grandkids play baseball and cheer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Borden and sister, Annette Borden.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Beck; mother, Mary Lee Voight; children, Wendy Lee Goode and husband, Jacob and D.J. Beck and wife, Brittney; brothers, Lloydalee Borden and wife, Maria, Leland Borden and wife, Kathy and Larry Borden and wife, Lisa; sister, Sharlene Clark and husband, David; grandchildren, Mason Goode, Macie Goode, Carter Beck and Clayton Beck and great grandson, Fletcher Goode along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
