Funeral services for Vernon Henderson Jr., 38, of Marshall will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Harris officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home. Vernon Henderson Jr. was born to the parentage of Vernon and Carella Henderson on October 27, 1976 in Marshall, Texas. Vernon had a heart full of life and love. Vernon accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church. He attended Marshall Public Schools and graduated in 1996. While attending high school he played football. He was a coach for the little league Jets and East Texas Pop Warner. On May 25, 2015, Vernon made his transition of life to heaven. Vernon was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clemmie Henderson, grandfathers, McKinley Bailey and Jessie L. Henderson and uncle, Jessie Henderson, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving parents, Vernon and Carella Henderson; sisters, LaKendra (Quincy) Washington, and Vershunda (Steve) Mitchell; nieces, Makayla and Brianna; three nephews, Qydarius (Ty), Dameion and Jakobe; grandmother, Helen P. Bailey; six aunts, four uncles and a host of relatives and friends and special friend, LaFaye and children, Kayante, Kelvin, Kimestric and Kragston.
