Veto Montelbano,
Jr.
Oct 22, 1957 — May 30, 2025
Marshall
Veto Paul Montelbano went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 30, 2025, at the age of 67. A devoted husband, loyal friend, and loving uncle, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
He was married to the love of his life, Linda Kay Montelbano, for 41 wonderful years. Their bond was a true example of enduring love and commitment. Though she preceded him in death, Veto carried her memory with him every day.
He dedicated 36 years of hard work and integrity to Shreveport Warehouse Services. A passionate sports fan, he cheered faithfully for his beloved LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints—win or lose, he was all in. His true joy, however, came from coaching his nieces and nephews in softball and baseball during his younger years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay Montelbano; his father, Veto Paul Montelbano, Sr.; his mother, Francis Montelbano; and his sister, Betty Jean Montelbano.
He was the beloved brother of Lee Montelbano and Linda Montelbano. He was a treasured uncle to Jason Montelbano and his wife Belinda (Georgia); Nicole (Montelbano) Hall and her husband Brandon (Alabama); Justin Montelbano (Haughton, LA); Tobie Montelbano and his wife Alex (Gilmer, TX); Robert Marshall Perkins, Jr. and his wife Melanie (Marshall, TX); and Christopher Michael Perkins and his wife Stephanie (Prosper, TX).
He was a proud great-uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and found great joy in being part of their lives.
Veto's legacy is one of family, loyalty, and love for the simple things in life—sports, coaching, and the people he cared for most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family extends a special thank you to Marshall Hospice of East Texas for the compassionate and sincere care for our uncle and family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home.
