Funeral services for Viola Mae Smith Clark will be held 2p.m, Sunday, March 16, 2014 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro Kenneth Flanagan, her former pastor officiating. Burial will be in Colonial Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Michael Richards officiating. Mrs. Clark passed away March 13, 2014 in Marshall. Viola Mae Smith Clark was born December 10, 1921 in Harleton, TX. the 8th and the last surviving of 9 children of Andrew and Nonnie Starr Smith. She attended Piney and Harleton schools. She was married to Leon P. Clark, Sr. for 53 years. Viola loved to crochet, dance, do puzzles, and play bingo and dominoes. Viola was preceded in death by her husband and two children, son, Calvin Clark and daughter, Reba Kay Clark, as well as granddaughter, Lisa Hancock. She is survived by three sons, Gene Clark and wife Carolyn of Marshall, David Clark and wife Judie of Marshall and Leon Clark, Jr. and wife Shelia of Karnack; two daughters, Nora Hancock and husband Cecil (Buddy) Hancock and Glenda Roberts and husband James Roberts, both of Marshall and 6 grandsons, Wade Clark and wife Christy, Lonnie Hancock and wife Debbie, Wesley Roberts, Steven Clark and wife Summer, Adam Clark and wife Catherine, Brandon Clark and wife Amy; 5 granddaughters, Michelle Rash and husband Roy, Kimberly Clark, Tammi Dupree and husband Aaron, Joann McCrary and husband Jamie and Janet Spain and husband Patrick; 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Wade Clark, Lonnie Hancock, Wesley Roberts, Steven Clark, Adam Clark and Brandon Clark.
