A funeral service for Violet Joan "Joanie" Jackson, 94, of Marshall, Texas will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the funeral home.

Joanie was born on March 19, 1930, in Englewood, New Jersey to John C. and Violet Miller Kerr and passed away on January 31, 2025, in Marshall, Texas.

She was a homemaker and a member of The Light of World Church. She was an intercessory prayer warrior, praying for everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Violet Miller Kerr and her husband, Russell H. Jackson, Sr.

She is survived by her children, Michael Jackson and Martha Hendricks, Russell H. Jackson, Jr. and Dave Jackson and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Michael Shaun Jackson, John Jackson, Sabrina Jackson-Ganzzemiller and husband, Wesley, Kristi Lynn Rojas and husband, Joey, Emily Louise French and husband, Jacob and Tamara Livesay; great grandchildren, Kalyn, Kylee and Kaden Rojas, Johnathan, Jackson and Emmalynn French and Anthony and Patrick Heidelberg and wife, Yessica and great great grandchildren, Hyndrix and Hailey along with other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Samaritan's Purse.
