Graveside services for Laverne Jones Barnard, 82, of Marshall will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Cave Springs Cemetery under the direction of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Evers officiating. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the cemetery. Mrs. Barnard passed away April 1, 2011 at her residence in Marshall. Wanda Laverne Jones Barnard was born to Elijah Jones and Bessie Mae McQueen Jones in Harrison County, Texas on February 21, 1929. She attended Harrison County schools. She married Lee Barnard on May 24, 1952 and celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage before his death on February 16, 1992. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Surviving Mrs. Barnard are her three sons Terry Barnard of Brodhead, Wisconsin, Ronald Barnard of Marshall, Texas, and Greg Barnard & wife Lori of Evansville, Wisconsin; one daughter, Sandra Baertschi & husband Randy of Footville, Wisconsin. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Jones of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a number of brothers and sisters.
