A memorial service for Wandal Barber Wright, 75, of Waskom, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Cranford Graves officiating. Mrs. Wright passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014 at her residence in Waskom. Wandal Barber Wright was born May 24, 1938 in New London, TX to Melvin and Valeria Holland Barber. She was a graduate of New London High School. Mrs. Wright was crazy about her grandkids, loved to sew and cook, liked to take care of her yard, and was very proud of her children. She truly cared for her patients at the Absolute Concierge Health Service. Surviving Mrs. Wright are her daughter, Jan West and husband Tracy; her son, Bruce Wayne Slavin; daughters, Tammy Poplin and husband Steve, Elizabeth Wanette Slavin and husband Michael Henderson; brothers, R.D. Barber and wife Betty, Carl Wayne Ferrell and wife Edna; sisters, Diane Ferrell, Mary Stewart; grandchildren, Chris Gibbons and wife Stephanie, Jessica Calhoun and fiancé Chris Clanton, Hanna Crider and husband Ryan, Whitney Slavin and husband Rick Chase, Sr. Airman Jason O. Hill; great grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Luke Gibbons, Zoey Crider; dear friend, Martha Glanton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding Mrs. Wright in death were her parents; her husband, Phil Walker; brother, Ed Ferrell; and a daughter-in-law, Renee McCoy Slavin.
