Funeral services for William David Shields, 61, of El Mirage, AZ, will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Vanbiber officiating. Interment will follow in Grange Hall Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Shields passed away December 11, 2013 in Arizona. William David Shields was born July 27, 1952 in Marshall, TX to William Uthul and Goldie Mae Cummings Shields. Mr. Shields worked for Arizona Public Service Power Company as an outside lineman since 2001. He was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shields serviced his country in the Army National Guard. Mr. Shields married Debra Foster on July 28, 1972 in Marshall, Texas. David Shields is survived by his wife, Debra Shields of El Mirage, AZ; his sons, Chris Shields and Blake Shields and wife Nikki, all of Marshall, TX; brother, Mike Shields and wife Phillis of Marshall; sisters, Peggy Brown and husband Ricky of Woodlawn, TX, Mary Helen George and husband Rufus of Jefferson, Betty Waits of Katy, TX; granddaughters, Natalie Shields, Harlie Shields and Haiden Shields, all of Marshall; and mother-in-law, Betty Foster. Mr. Shields was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Kylie Epperson, Joey Epperson, Stephen Phelps, Casey Shields, Hunter Shields and Gary Bray.
